Hannah Burns is a comic artist and writer/illustrator based in Seattle, Washington. She spent her formative years in Anchorage, Alaska hiding from the cold, pretending to be an edgy goth tween, and drawing comics about her daily life, friends, and family. She graduated from West Anchorage High School in 2012, and was accepted to the University of Alaska, Anchorage that same year. She later transferred to Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2016 to pursue a Comic Art degree and graduated with a BFA in December 2018. In 2019 she made the move back to Washington to be closer to family (and the good seafood). However, she had just moved into an apartment in Seattle when the pandemic hit, and has spent the last 4 years working in Veterinary Medicine caring for her neighborhood’s influx of COVID Puppies.
In her spare time, Hannah enjoys hunting down obscure animation and cult films to watch, as well as inflicting those films on her friends and family. She also enjoys creating outfits, petting cats, and blasting mood playlists from her phone.
Hannah’s influences include (in no particular order) Art Spiegelman, Richard Williams, the pantheon of 90s Nickelodeon/Cartoon Network shows, Alphonse Mucha, Stephen King, Harvey Pekar, Rebecca Sugar, John Waters, Jhonen Vasquez, R. Crumb, and Junji Ito.
She currently lives in the Northgate neighborhood of Seattle with her spouse Dylan, and her cats Aubrey and Maeve. She is always available for commissions.
